No, whilst we enjoy a very long and close relationship with the Hornsby RSL Club Ltd, the HWMH is a separate entity. The Hornsby RSL Club Limited provides extensive support to the HWMH and the committee as well as the various tenants of the HWMH. The Hornsby RSL Sub-Branch maintains their admin office in the HWMH and sometimes use the hall for various functions.
No, whilst we give special consideration to local community & service groups, the Hall is available for anyone to hire.
Whilst it is preferred, in most cases an additional surcharge will be required if the hiree does not have PLI. However for certain events, PLI is mandatory.
Yes, it is encouraged with discounts for multiple booking.
No, the HWMH is not licensed for the sale of alcohol. Individual organizations can apply for a Limited License for special events; restrictions do apply so contact the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (www.olgr.nsw.gov.au) for more information. This is not available to individuals.
Yes we do have a Baby Grand Piano available on stage. Let us know if you need it before your function and we'll make sure it is nicely tuned.
Yes there is a basic handheld microphone that plugs into the stage. You can also bring in your own CD player to play background music if required.
Yes the stage is elevated with steps on either side. The stage is made from wooden parquetry squares and has a curtain for productions..
There is a level polished timber floor suitable for dancing, displays and meeetings. It is approx 17 m wide x 20 m long.
The hall is well ventilated with high windows plus oscillating fans. It is well lit by day with natural light plus adequate fluorescent lighting. There is wall mounted strip heating if desired.
There are serving benches and a fridge for food preparation in the kitchenette at the back of the hall. An urn for hot drinks can also be supplied. If you need full access to the kitchen
with oven and stove top, then a $25 surcharge applies.
This can be arranged for a surcharge if required. Let us know the dates you need help and we can give you a quote on services.
Yes there is ample parking in the RSL car park behind the hall or in the Public car park on William Street. There is also some limited street parking at the front of hall.
Goods are best unloaded through the front doors (truck can park on the street). Alternatively there is access from the alleyway through the kitchen or through the fire stairs next to the gym although vehicles are not allowed to park in the alley.

The Hornsby War Memorial Hall is an important building to the Hornsby community. It exhibits landmark qualities and regional significance. The foundation stone was laid on Anzac Day 1955. The hall was opened on 8 December 1962 by Lieutenant General Sir Eric Woodward. The Youth Centre in the lower hall was opened in 1959.
The Boardroom can be hired at $50 per hour or $200 per day. The Boardroom seats 12. Because the wooden boardroom tables are covered with glass they cannot be re-arranged from their current T-formation.
We can return your bond within 3 business days by bank transfer if you provide us with your bank details. Otherwise a cheque will be sent within a week.
Yes the occassional use of banners is fine. Please contact the caretaker to arrange this service.
